Unmarred.

I’m talking briefly about developments in the latest Veronica Mars, so I suppose that I should post a spoiler alert (and yes, I really just wanted to test my new pulsing background color effect).

In this episode (which felt crammed with a mite too much plot, as if it had been intended as two episodes and one of those an awkward one built around the annual Rashamon party) it is established that Veronica, despite her assumptions and her year long darkness, was not a target of someone’s sexual attack. With all the badness going on, she was drugged accidentally and had sex consensually. This puts an odd kink in the VM chemistry, because suddenly she’s not a victim of the upper-classoids finding her own method of revenge. Will she be cleansed? Happy? No, can’t get happy. Even once the murder is solved, Lily will still be dead. Even with the parents back together (if they are), life has still taken a real drop. But this obviously wasn’t accidental; perhaps they felt that if their lading her with so many new darknesses, then needed her to shed this one.

Meanwhile: Duncan hasn’t taken his meds in a while. That’s got to be important.

  1. The question is… Can anyone do the pulse thing?… Cool! alert

No real comment on Veronica other than just the obvious one that I’m really looking forward to seeing how they resolve things this season (as well as how much they resolve) and what questions (old or new) are left hanging for next season.

I originally heard that the writers were going to try to answer most, if not all, questions about Lily’s murder because at the time they didn’t know if they were being renewed.

  2. I see I accidentally left the word “alert” in there when I cut-n-pasted for the last comment. Oh well. Anyway, it wasn’t so cool after all as it didn’t work. Worth a shot just for the heck of checking to see if I could do it too. Without a preview feature all I could do was “Say It!” to try it. If it HAD worked it would have been “Cool!”

And when I first saw the pulsing yellow background as it faded, I thought my eyes were tricking me! Then it faded back in and I realized it was an effect. :-)

  3. I have now edited the restrictions so that anyone can do the new fade effect. You just have to bracket it with SPAN tags with a class set to “pulse” and an id variable set to, well, any id not already used on the page, I think. So, for example, you could have <span id=”somerandomid” class=”pulse”>whatever text you want highlighted</span> and it should get you a nice yellow fade effect. I’ll leave how to do other colors as detective work for you.

  4. Cool! Thanks. It wasn’t really necessary, of course, as I was just trying to be “cute” for no good reason. I should know by now that that’s impossible for me as I’m just so thoroughly UN-cute. :-)
