Ol' Buffy folk

A lot of coverage of the network upfronts doesn’t include cast lists, so I thought I’d point out that David “Angel” Boreanaz is on the new drama Bones, while Alyson “Willow” Hannigan is on the comedy How I Met Your Mother. And for you Karen Sisco fans, Carla Gugino (recently seen in Sin City… and when I say “seen”, I mean parts of her you ain’t gonna see on broadcast TV) lands herself the alien invasion series Threshold.

And as long as we’re talking about where the Buffyfolk are, I should note that Seth Green was on last nights Will & Grace (if not very well used), and if Harry “the Mayor” Groener has a recurring role as a tempermental chef on the less-than-the-sum-of-its-parts series Las Vegas.

Cancelled series actor most likely to become a regular (but not announced as one) on some series next year? Joan of Arcadia‘s Jason Ritter.

  1. Nicholas “Xander” Brendon plays a chef named Seth Klein in Kitchen Confidential (FOX mondays at 8:30 after Arrested Development). He’s not the star (i.e. head chef) of the show, but a supporting player.

Harry Groener also had a small role in the the two-part ST: Enterprise episode that aired just prior to the series finale episode. He played the head of the UN or some such bigwig politician instrumental in getting talks going leading to the establishment of the Federation. At least he didn’t turn into a giant demon snake.

  2. SciFiWire has the following piece about the possibility of straight-to-DVD Buffy movies, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Sounds like they would probably focus on the lesser characters anyway which is pretty much what I’d expect with such a scenario…

    Buffy Movies Straight To DVD?

  3. With a lot of shows being in reruns for a week or two, I was just checking TitanTV to see when new episodes of various shows might return. They say Veronica Mars is new again Nov. 9th with an episode in which according to the blurb… “Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon has a cameo as a car-rental agency assistant manager.” Not that that’s THE reason to watch the show or anything, but it’s of mild interest to us Buffy/Veronica fans.

  4. The use of both Kevin Smith and Joss on VM (along with casting Charisma Carpenter this year, after losing Alyson Hannigan) suggest strongly that they are making a very purposeful play for the geek addict audience — which makes sense, as VM has the elements for geek addict success.
