Cynical political thought

This isn’t really the way I think, but applying blogosphere level logic, I can see the potential for the democratic presidential ticket to be not Clinton/Obama (as some suspect), but Obama/Clinton.
Why Clinton would be willing to take the second seat: because if someone assassinates Obama for being black and in charge, she gets to be president.
Why Obama would be willing to take her on for the second seat: insurance — who’s gonna assassinate him if it means making Hillary president? The folks that will hate him hate her even more.

The Grammy Awards

The Police are opening up the Grammy Awards this weekend, and that’s quite a switch. Usually, they shut down the Source Music Awards.

Rules of Engagement

“Marriage sucks cliche!”
“That will never happen to me, engaged guy!”
“Whoops, it just happened to me!”
“Hahahaha!”
Repeat until cancelation.

Super Bowl ads

Some enjoyable Super Bowl ads, I’m not sure that any of them reach the level of iconic or going outside the form (the way that Apple’s 1984 ad did, or the E-Trade monkey in the garage). Biggest grin came from the Coke Grand Theft Auto ad (although I imagine that there is a substantial portion of the audience who just didn’t get it), the Garmin Ultramanesque ad (although I think I’ve got a better idea for a GPS Super Bowl ad, one which explains the product better), FedEx in space, the CareerBuilder, and the second of the Taco Bell lions ads (Ricardo Montelban).
And I’ve long appreciated the willingness of Robert Goulet to do any silly thing offered to him… but I’d love to see the list of celebrities they were considering for the spot.
There was a Prince spot promoing his half-time performance which surprisingly aired only during the pre-game show, not during the show itself.
I didn’t end up keeping score, so I don’t know who won, the Colas or the Beers.

A post from Evanier reminds us that mystery series ending without the mystery being resolved is nothing new.
