In the U.S., the coverage on the opening weekend of Mr. Bean’s Holiday is how it did notably better than box office analysts predicted. Overseas, the response to that opening is ‘to be shocked at the low turnout.
Allison and I caught it today. Even as someone who has enjoyed Bean on TV, this had moments but didn’t add up to much. Allison liked that it had “all laughing bits, no scary bits”, even though she didn’t actually laugh at all. Still, it was lemonade and popcorn, and a video game afterward, so she had a good time.
Got to take advantage of the kids-under-3-get-in-free policy while I still can!
