ad money, well, spent

The add in my gmail account said

NBC’s Fall Premieres Check Out Why Everyone is Talking About NBC’s New Fall Lineup!
So I clicked it, and got took to a page advertising Legally Mad, NBCs upcoming humorous hour-long legal show by the creator of such shows as Ally McBeal and Boston Legal.
Problem is, news had already gotten out that NBC wasn’t going to pick up Legally Mad, that they paid millions to eat the pilot.
I’m not exactly sure why one puts up a web page to advertise a series that you haven’t decided to air yet. Much less why you pay Google to bring people to that page. And even less why you don’t kill that ad the moment you decide that you’re not airing it…
